Over the years the town celebrated summer special occasions and holidays with music and other special events. Christmas was always a special time with movies for the kids and merchant prize drawings for adults. Contributions of images for this page are welcomed dpcarp@longlines.com.

Early on Coon Rapids had a drum corps that performed on national holidays and other special occasions.

In 1863, a brass band of 12 instruments was formed to celebrate the 4th of July. Initially half the members could play an instrument - half could not. Coon Rapids residents suffered untold torture while the band was practicing.
