Spring

Walking in the woods at White Rock. May 2005.

Dog Tooth Violets had bloomed, Dutchman’s Breeches were still hanging on the line, Sweet William dotted the hills and on cool wet hillsides Jack-in-the-pulpits were just starting to preach their spring sermons. The Brutsche cabin, in a glorious state of decay, rested among the giant oaks on a sunny hillside. A turkey vulture watched me approach and flew away before I got too close.

The White Rock cliff is located off Fig Ave south east of Coon Rapids. The area is part of the Garst Farm Resort. It is open to the public for hiking and fishing. A trail map is available on the Farm Resort web page.
